Construction

The two-board elliptical top has a slightly rounded edge and is secured to the frame by wood pins and by a transverse cleat with tapered, chamfered ends. The cleat passes through the long rails of the skirt and is joined by rosehead nails to the underside of the top. The rails are vertically chamfered where they are connected to the turned legs by mortise-and-tenon joints, exhibiting two wood pins each. The rectangular stretchers below are also secured to the legs by mortise-and-tenon joints and wood pins, above turned feet. Examined by P. E. Kane, August 6, 2010; notes compiled by T. B. Lloyd.

Notes

The top of the table has a scrubbed surface and the base is painted brown with black swirls.
