Construction

The rectangular, oblong top is trimmed on its front and sides with a one-piece molding. The top and bottom rails meet the case sides in blind joints, the drawer dividers in half-blind dovetails. The case back consists of two horizontal boards, butted together and chamfered where they fit into grooves in the case top and sides. The two-board case bottom is flush with the bottom of the base molding. The front feet consist of vertical rectangular blocks attached directly to the underside of the case bottom, flanked by horizontal chamfered blocks and faced with mitered ogee brackets. The rear feet are constructed similarly, but for their back faces, which are simple, square-edge trapezoidal brackets, set into grooves in the backs of the ogee side brackets. Notes compiled by T. B. Lloyd from photographs supplied by CRN Auctions.
