Construction

The circular, one-piece top is supported by a turned, tapering pedestal, doweled into a large cleat with bowed ends, chamfered edges and a deeper central section. The cleat is fixed to the underside of the top with six fasteners, including countersunk screws. The cylindrical pedestal base has scalloped skirts between the three flat-sided cabriole legs (which end in raised snake feet), fixed to it in joints concealed by three iron straps, attached to its underside with screws and rosehead nails. Notes compiled by T.B. Lloyd from photographs supplied by Stanley Weiss.
