Biography

Daniel Wightman was called a "joyner" in a 1694 Newport land deed; also a minister, he came to Newport from Kingstown in the early 1690s to become the second minister of the Six Principles Baptist Church.

According to architectural historial Antoinette Downing, the original 17th-century structure at 2 Coddington Street in Newport likely built by him.
