The frame of the table is formed of rails of mahogany tenoned to the upper parts of the legs and pegged. The upper parts of the legs are squared and form the corners of the table below the top. The framing rails are visible at the sides in the friezelike areas between the cove molding immediately below the top and the bead molding just above the skirt. The sections of the skirt on each side are applied directly to the lower portions of these framing rails. The top is one large thin piece of mahogany the sides of which are visible as a bead molding immediately above the cove molding circumscribing the table. Long strips, as well as shorter pieces, of shaped mahogany are nailed to the top in order to create the dished effect at the sides and corners respectively. The mahogany slides run between strips of wood stretching the width of the table in the interior; these are made of white pine and poplar and are applied to the framing rails.
