ConstructionThe oblong, two-board octagonal top has a slightly rounded edge and is attached to its frame by wood pins and rosehead nails. It is further attached by rosehead nails in a medial brace set into longitudinal cleats with rounded ends screwed into the long rails of the frame below. The brace?s chamfered ends extend through the rails. The inside faces of the splayed, flat-arched rails bear prominent vertical saw marks, and meet the rectangular tops of the splayed, turned tapering legs, which end in outset pad feet, in mortise and tenon joints showing two wood pins each. Examined by M. Taradash, August 6, 2009; notes compiled by T. B. Lloyd. |
