ConstructionThe one-piece, circular top has a molded edge, beaded on the perimeter of its lathe-marked underside, to which is attached, by two countersunk screws, a rectangular cleat with chamfered edges. Doweled into the cleat is a vasiform, ring-turned pedestal, scalloped at its base between the three cabriole legs whose joints are concealed by a three-armed iron plate, attached with rosehead nails and screws. The base of the pedestal has not been shaved down when it joins the legs. The cabriole legs have rounded edges on their tops and bottoms, and end in shod snake feet. Examined by P. E. Kane, J. M. Johnson, and T. B. Lloyd, September 23, 2013; notes compiled by T. B. Lloyd. |
