ConstructionThe half-round top has a line-inlaid edge, is joined to its conformingly shaped and inlaid upper leaf by brass hinges set into the tops rear outside edges, and fixed to its conformingly shaped frame by screwpockets in the inside face of the skirt?s center panel and the rear face of the stationary portion of the outside back rail. The two front inlaid, square, tapering legs are attached to the skirt, which consists of two laminations, by screws. The proper right, swinging end of the outside back rail moves by means of a carved wood five-knuckled round hinge. The end of the rail fits over a rabbet at the end of the inside back rail, which meets the front skirt rail in a dovetail joint having thick-necked pins with half-pins above and below.
