Construction

The openwork crest consists of carved scrolls centering carved and incised vegetal motifs and is tenoned and wood-pinned to the tops of the turned leg-stiles. Split balusters are tenoned into the underside of the crest and the top of the molded and shaped stay rail below. The tops of the turned front legs are decorated with turnings. The rear stretcher is plain, the side stretchers and front stretcher are more elaborately turned. Examined by P.E. Kane, J.S. Gordon, A. Ward and J.N. Johnson, January 20, 2019; notes compiled by T.B. Lloyd.
