The rectangular, oblong, single-board top has a square edge, and is joined to its rectangular, single-board leaves by four pairs of metal hinges, each leaf thrice-screwed, set just inside the frame and laid out with prominent scribe lines on the underside of the top. The joints between the leaves are quarter round. The top is secured to its frame by screw pockets in the outside face of the outer rails, in the top rail above the drawer, and in the false-drawer rail. The inner and outer long rails are joined by rosehead nails. On the inside faces of the inner rails are strips to prevent the drawer from tipping forward, drawer runners, and drawer stops, all fixed with rosehead nails. The top of the line-inlaid drawer front is flush with its square-top drawer sides, which it meets in dovetail joints, having finely cut narrow-necked pins with half-pins above and below. The drawer sides are full-depth; the drawer bottoms, perpendicular to the front, are fixed with rosehead nails to the drawer backs above. Trapezoidal brackets in the outer rails (with quarter-spherical cut-outs for finger-holds) support the leaves, and turn by means of carved-wood, knuckled hinges. The legs are slightly splayed and inlaid with lines above pendant flowers, dots and lines. Notes compiled by T.B. Lloyd, from photographs supplied by Garth?s Auctions, Inc.
