Biography

Gaynor Wynne Richards ( -2006) was a descendent of Benjamin Franklin's physician, Thomas Wynne. At a young age, Mrs. Wynne began collecting American and English decorative arts with her father, Thomas E. Wynne. Their collection was sold through Northeast Auctions in August of 2006.

Mrs. Richards had an avid interest in English furniture and silver and formerly lectured to private groups on the topic. For many years, she was a volunteer guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Mrs. Richards graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1941 and received a bachelor's degree in classics from Mount Holyoke College in 1945.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution: the Society

of Colonial Dames; the Mount Holyoke Club of Philadelphia; the Merion

Cricket Club; and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a group that promotes educational

opportunities for women.
