Biography

Joseph Albee was identified as a house carpenter of Uxbridge, Massachustts, when he purchased fifty acres of land in Glocester, Rhode Island, in February, 1750.(1) This purchase presaged a move to Glocester. In 1751 he was identified as a Glocester house carpenter when he mortgaged the land he had bought in Glocester.(2) Three additional land transactions are recorded in Glocester: in 1762 and 1771 he was identified as a yeoman and again in 1771 he was identified as a gentleman.(3)
